Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering 2012, Volume 6, Issue 6,   Pages 901-906 doi: 10.1007/s11783-012-0403-1

Abstract: The effect of biogas release method on anaerobic fermentative hydrogen production in batch culture systemwas compared, i.e., Owen method with intermediately release, continuous releasing method, and continuousreleasing+ CO absorbing.C, initial pH 7.0 and glucose concentration of 10 g·L , the hydrogen production was only 28 mL when releasinggas by Owen method, while it increased two times when releasing the biogas continuously.

Abstract: behavior of 304L austenitic stainless steel after cathodic hydrogen charging and hydrogen spontaneously releasingAfter hydrogen releasing, the specimens recovered a certain extent but not all of its original ductilitySEM) micrographs of fracture surfaces reveal that irreversible damage had developed in the hydrogen-releasingspecimens during the releasing process rather than the charging process.be ascribed to the high tensile stress caused by non-uniform hydrogen distribution during hydrogen releasing

Oxygen Penetration Through Full-Thickness Skin by Oxygen-Releasing Sutures for Skin Graft Transplantation Article

Wenjing Zai, Yunong Yuan, Lin Kang, Jialong Xu, Yiqiao Hu, Lifeng Kang, Jinhui Wu

Engineering 2023, Volume 29, Issue 10,   Pages 83-94 doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2023.05.006

Abstract:

The transplantation of full-thickness skin grafts (FTSGs) is important for reconstructing skin barrier and promoting wound healing. Sufficient oxygen supply is closely related to the success of skin grafting. However, full-thickness oxygen delivery is limited by the poor oxygen permeability of skin. Oxygenreleasing sutures (O2 sutures) were developed to facilitate oxygen penetration through full-thickness skin. The Osutures delivered 100 times more oxygen than topical gaseous oxygen therapy at a 15 mm depth in the skin model. Under extreme hypoxia (< 0.5% O2, v/v), O2 sutures could also promote endothelial cell proliferation. After the transplantation of FTSGs in mice, O2 sutures accelerated blood re-perfusion and increased the survival area of the skin graft. It is expected that O2 sutures will be adopted in clinical applications to increase the success rate of full-thickness skin transplantation.
